BEAUTY: Sculpture--Anish Kapoor

"Svayambh," a Sanskrit word meaning "self-creating" or "self-generating" was a monumental site specific kinetic sculpture by British sculptor-architect (and Turner Prize winner) Anish Kapoor (he created the "Cloud Gate" in Chicago's Millennium Park). Staged at the Royal Academy of Art in London as part of a solo exhibition (Kapoor is the only living artist ever to have had a solo show at the Academy), this "paint train" was a 30-ton block of wax, crimson paint, and Vaseline gliding painfully slowly on a track through five galleries, squeezing and squishing its way through the grand, neo-classical archways of the Royal Academy.
